| The
Franklin Industrial & Commercial Development Authority was established
in 1985. Its purpose is to provide a facility which will house new
and expanding businesses, create and retain employment opportunities,
and diversify the industrial mixture through development and nurturing
of new start-up businesses.
In
1988, FICDA had 8 tenants and 139 employees. FICDA is currently
home to 17 businesses and boasts over 500 employees. There are
also a number of businesses who started at FICDA over the years
and have grown to a point where they have moved out and into their
own buildings throughout the community.
Starting
and running a small business is difficult and many fail within
the first two years. FICDA offers physical amenities such as office/manufacturing
space, technological assistance, and office equipment.
FICDA
also provides business assistance services.
We
serve employers, both current and future, in a variety of capacities
in order to create and retain jobs in our community. Whomever
the clients may be, we react quickly and marshall all resources
necessary to help new and existing businesses accomplish their
goals.
